### Summary
This position serves as the Lead Supply Technician in the Distribution section of Logistics Service at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont. The incumbent oversees the activities of up to six (6) Supply Technicians and is responsible for management of all aspects of the General Inventory Package (GIP) including forecasting supply needs and requirements for various primary and secondary inventory points within the Medical Center that are supported by the Distribution Section in Logistics.

### Responsibilities
* Responsible for administrative and technical aspects of procurement, distribution, replenishment, conversation of resources, environmental regulation compliance and control of medical supplies.
* The incumbent independently manages the workload of five (5) Supply Technicians in
Distribution in overseeing approximately 2970 individual line items in the Medical/Surgical, Laboratory,
and Radiology GIP as well as providing program support and expertise for other GIPs located in the
Medical Center.
* Responsible for all training requirements of the Supply Technicians.
* The Lead Supply Technician will be required to meet with Head Nurses and Clinical Program Managers to ensure their supply needs are being met, and to assist with proper adjustments when needs change.
* The incumbent is also responsible for insuring that inactive medical supplies are kept to a minimum and expiration dates are monitored to insure resources are not wasted on expired supplies.
* the incumbent monitors all medical supply storage areas of subordinate staff to insure proper temperatures are maintained, cardboard is not used, areas are organized and cleaned, and shelving is the required distance from the ceiling, pipes, walls, etc.
* The incumbent is also a purchase card approving official and must assure that purchases comply with
Federal and VA Acquisition regulations and policies regarding any restriction on using the purchase card,
socioeconomic goals, mandatory sources, standardization requirements, item master and vendor file
information, as well as exclusions and CCR verification.
* The Lead Supply Technician works closely with the Chief Logistics to ensure proper procedures are followed by all subordinate staff regarding Purchase Card policies.

### Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/05/2018.
**Time-In-Grade Requirement**: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. **Note:**Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
* **Specialized Experience:** You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Distributing supplies and materials, including sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment, to all areas of the facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distribution of supplies and materials; assists in training new employees; maintains current knowledge and answers questions on procedures, policies, etc.; maintains stock by pulling stock, replenishing stock, and maintaining records on stock levels; monitors expiration dates and rotates stock; cleans assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles; and receives supplies and material into the facility.

**Physical Requirements:**The position is required to frequently stand, bend, and requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. and walk to all areas of the campus. The incumbent is required to receive supplies and place in the proper inventory location, barcode scan the various supply closets located throughout the facility, and deliver issued
supplies to all secondary locations. The incumbent is required to deliver "call-down" supplies to requestors.
